The Central Market of Valencia is modernist in style, and it is one of the most beloved buildings by Valencians and also one of the most visited places by tourists.

Monumental and beautiful, the Central Market of Valencia is, without a doubt, one of the must-see places. In addition, it is perfect to buy products, mostly local, of high quality. It has 1,200 positions and, in total, almost 400 people work there.

More than a century has passed since its construction began. Its dome and stained glass windows give it an incomparable atmosphere and a very characteristic light. A whole explosion of color, smells and traditional tastes.

The Central Market was once the usual location for street markets. Now, if you are a gastronomy lover, you can enjoy fresh products, their color and flavor. It is a paradise that you cannot miss. In addition, you have it right in front of the Lonja and the Iglesia de los Santos Juanes.

It is considered the largest fresh produce market in Europe. And it is not for less, since it has an area of more than 8,000 square meters. Its decoration is truffled with decorative elements alluding to the orchard and gardens of Valencia.

Its structure, made up of iron columns, reminiscent of the Eiffel Tower, tile and stained glass windows, makes it an architectural attraction that should not be missed. Another of its claims is the gastro bar of the Valencian two-Michelin-star chef, Central Bar by Ricard Camarena.

In 2004 a very complete rehabilitation began, which has consisted of a complete restoration of the building; and an update of the commercial function as a market and of all its facilities.
